Licensing Geographic Data and Services provides an overview of licensing GIS / LIS data and services. There are two parts to this presentation. The first reviews the National Research Council's recent book, Licensing Geographic Data and Services. This review decomposes the legal, economic, and policy implications of government as licensee and licensor. The report also provides recommendations to determine when licensing is appropriate or not, and if so, how to enhance licensing in the public sector. The second part of this presentation reviews case studies, both positive and negative, of governments as licensee and licensor of geographic data and services in Wisconsin.
