UWSP offering new hybrid course on GIS Applications in Emergency Management

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is offering an innovative new class that combines online learning with up to four face-to-face classes. “GIS Applications in Emergency Management” begins on January 21, 2014 and will cover  public safety issues and GIS-based response assessment and emergency management. This includes GIS methodologies involving crime analysis, fire response strategies, search and rescue, networked operations, risk assessment, personnel deployment, 911 infrastructure, and homeland security issues.

The course is available to working professionals, and you can register for this course with special student status at UW-Stevens Point.  UWSP is encouraging GIS and land information professionals to share the class with colleagues in E911, fire, police, sheriff, and other emergency management positions.

For more information, including details on how to register, contact Douglas Miskowiak at (715) 346-4789.
