A nice article about Justin Conner’s election as the 2014 WLIA President appeared in today’s edition of the Wisconsin Rapids City-Times. In addition to congratulating Justin on his new role, Board Chair Lance Pliml spoke on the importance of land information– “Sometimes you think that those things just relate to the county” said Pliml, “but anyone out there in business who uses those sites on a daily basis, it’s a tremendous resource. And if you as a board supervisor have not looked at the online availability of our mapping and those capabilities, take the time to do it, and I am sure you will really appreciate what gets done in that office.”
Justin explained the importance of organizations like WLIA to County Board Supervisors. “Perhaps you may wonder why Wood County should send their employees off to do these things with different associations. One of the WLIA accomplishments over the previous year was that we were one of the few programs in the last ACT budget that saw a sizable increase in our spending. We went from a $50,000 base grant to a $100,000 now, and that is money that we are bringing back into the county and using to promote land records here.”
Always one for modesty, Justin downplayed the recognition. But I want to thank him for his continued hard work and efforts to educate the broader community on what we do as geospatial professionals! Keep it up Justin.
