WLIA Opposes Current Comprehensive Planning Legislation

Legislation (2015 Assembly Bill 371/Senate Bill 266) to repeal Wisconsin’s Comprehensive planning law was recently introduced by Sen. Moulton and Rep. Kulp. The elimination of the comprehensive planning grant program is included in the repeal. Although not awarded for several years, the funding source for comprehensive planning grants is the Wisconsin Land Information Program. As currently written, the bill would lapse $2,000,000 from the WLIP.

WLIA has registered in opposition to AB371/SB266 and is requesting the bill be amended so that money collected for the WLIP stay in the program. If this amendment is adopted, the WLIA is prepared to remove its opposition and take a neutral position.

All WLIA members are encouraged to contact their legislators and ask them to oppose the proposed WLIP lapse.
