Real Property Lister

Location: Wisconsin Rapids, WI
FT/PT: Full-time 38.75hrs/week – WRS Eligible
Deadline to apply: 04/10/16
Hiring Range: $18.06 – $19.62

Job Responsibilities:
The General Function of this position is to prepare and maintain accurate ownership and description information for all parcels of real property in Wood County, per Chapter 70.09 of Wisconsin Statutes for public purposes.

  • Maintain real property land ownership records from recorded documents in the office of the Register of Deeds, updating address changes as necessary.
  • Assists attorneys, surveyors, appraisers, real estate personnel, utility companies, banks, governmental agencies, and the general public requesting general real estate transaction, tax information, assessment and maps or mapping questions.
  • Creates parcel splits which includes calculating acreage, writing descriptions for assessment rolls and assigning parcel identification number (PIN).
  • Provides assessment and taxation information and computer services to assessors, municipalities and county offices.
    Serves as coordinator between Wood County and taxation districts for assessment and taxation purposes.
  • Updates assessment rolls after each municipality has held Open Book and Board of Review.
  • Interpret “questionable conveyances” and determine whether the document or the language within the document is adequate to convey property and alter Treasurer’s records.
  • Review preliminary subdivision, condominium plats, and certified surveys for accuracy, content, and proper requirements. Report any possible land division violations to the Planning and Zoning Department.
  • Maintains county tax parcel maps.
  • Works closely with local and state offices of the DNR, DOT, DOR, DOA in identifying lands entered into the various state programs.
  • Responsible to know and practice the Safety Policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.

Job Qualifications:
Associates Degree in geography, cartography, planning, geographic information systems, computer science or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience in surveying, title examination or property assessment desired. Experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop applications desired.
