This year’s conference promises to be full of great content geared towards local municipal governments. Anybody who works with cities or local organizations will want to pay special attention to this year’s tracks labeled with the MUGG acronym which stands for (Municipal Users GIS Group). The MUGG group is a special interest group of WLIA members who meet on a semi regular basis and connect online about various subject matter specific to the business of local municipalities. Many of the group’s members are those presenting at the annual conference this year and have brought some very exciting content to share. Whether it be learning how to manage your digital documents or open data portals, or using mobile and web technologies to collect field data, or learning the specifics of how fire departments use GIS to help plan for emergency situations or how utilities use GIS to collect and manage water meters, or sewer and stormwater inspection and maintenance information. We hope that you will find some of these topics interesting and gain at least a few tidbits of rewarding knowledge that you can take back with you or maybe even inspire new projects or better ways to serve your community.
