The 2019 Annual conference will once again have pre-conference workshops. Legal Issues in GIS will be held 9:30 am to 12: 30 pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Red Lion Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, WI.
Do you have a curiosity about how the law intersects and impacts our geospatial profession? Join Chris Dunn of Dunn Law as he explores the sparse case law surrounding GIS. This workshop will discuss public policy issues, state open records acts, geospatial data acts, the individual cartographer’s liability for errors and omissions, your organization’s sovereign immunity, data copyrights, the privacy of your constituents and GIS data use licenses. This workshop will also cover what you should know before you are called to testify in court, the difference between how the law applies to you as a geospatial worker and how it applies to your organization.
Make sure to bring plenty of questions. As Chris will leave time to answer those, too.
Cost for this half day workshop is $75 for members or $90 for non-members.
