Special Discussion Session to be Held at Annual Conference: “How the National Geodetic Survey’s Plans for 2022 Affect YOU!”

In 2022 the National Geodetic Survey will replace NAD 83 and NAVD 88 with new horizontal and vertical reference systems. These changes will have significant effects on surveying, mapping and GIS across Wisconsin. Accordingly, the Wisconsin Spatial Reference System 2022 Task Force (WSRS2022) has been organized by the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors to help ensure successful implementation of the new reference systems in the state. Five focus groups are being organized under the Task Force to address important technical, educational, communication, legislative and software issues.

This special discussion session is an opportunity to learn more about how the Wisconsin geospatial community is responding to the National Geodetic Survey’s plans. In addition to a brief update on WSRS2022 activities, we expect to have focus group representatives present to discuss the status and goals of each group. This is an opportunity to learn more about this important topic, get answers to your questions, and get involved.

The session will be held in the McIntosh room of the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley, from 7:00-8:15 AM, on Thursday, February 21, 2019. The session will be moderated by Howard Veregin and Dick Kleinmann, co-chairs of WSRS2022.
