WLIA Creates an “Emerging Leader” Award

WLIA will name its first ever Emerging Leader Award recipient at its 2020 annual conference.  The Emerging Leader Award will be “Given to an individual in the first 7 years of their Land Information/GIS career who demonstrates exemplary individual technical achievement and/or leadership within the Wisconsin land information community.”

The WLIA award categories have been stable for nearly two decades and this precedent setting change was only made after careful consideration. The Awards Committee perceived and the board agreed that there was a gap in the existing WLIA recognitions. There was not a dedicated award to recognize less experienced professionals who make a significant impact in the first few years of their career. The purpose of the new award is to recognize up and coming professionals and inspire others in our community.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Emerging Leader award, as well as the other award categories, using the form on the WLIA website.

The WLIA annual conference will be held February 19-21, 2020 at the Marriott Madison West.
