We have had a number of members of our association change places of employment over the Spring and Summer months. Last week I caught up with Larry Cutforth.
What is your new role and place of employment?
GIS Section Chief, WI Department of Natural Resources.
What is your favorite or most exciting thing about your new position?
I am excited to work with an exceptional team of GIS professionals in my section and a large, diverse group of GIS users in the department. The DNR has a legacy of leading GIS in the state, so it is also exciting to build on the past and plan for the future.
Did you end up with a different commute?
My commute is about the same and it is still great to work in downtown Madison.
Anything else you are interested in reporting on work or personally?
I broke my leg in a mountain biking accident in July, but I am on the mend! I fell off my bike and tumbled down a steep slope on the side of a trail near Marquette, MI, my hometown in the UP.
Better your leg than your head, did your bike survive the incident?
I barely scratched my bike during the accident. Yeah, I am lucky that I didn’t hit my head!
Larry served two back to back terms on our Board of Directors from 2006-2010. He had an eventful summer and I am glad to hear that he is on the mend. I would like to congratulate Larry on his new position with the DNR. Break a leg Larry…oh wait…well I wish you the best of luck then anyway as you embark on a new leg…or…chapter in your career.
