Geospatial Career Panel at the Conference: How to Apply for and Land a Position

With the 2020 Annual Conference underway next week, there will be many experienced land information professionals networking and sharing their vast knowledge of the industry. This panel will focus on tips and tricks on how to apply for and land a geospatial position.

Meet the panel:

Jon Schwichtenberg, GISP (GIS Coordinator, GRAEF) has been a supervisor in charge of managing and hiring geospatial staff for over 20 years in the private consulting industry.

Kelly Felton, GISP (Cartographer/GIS Specialist, LIO – Sauk County) has been employed with Sauk County Land Information for over 24 years. She works with GIS staff to build the county’s land information system, integrating various data to enhance the county’s GIS websites and building focused applications for various consumer uses. She assists with the hiring criteria and project focus of their interns related to Land Information/GIS.

Jennifer Borlick (Senior Planner/GIS Manager, Planning, Economic and Community Development, Rock County) has been responsible for the hiring and supervision of seasonal interns for the Planning Department for over 10 years.

Jason Krueger, CP, GISP (Manager, Ayres Associates) has taken an active role in recruiting and hiring personnel for diverse geospatial positions and a wide range of experience levels. In addition to seeking candidates for our Wisconsin offices, he also has a good pulse on the job market for the greater geospatial industry around the country.
