Growing professionally can be challenging – especially during a global pandemic, but we have the cure! Join us on Wednesday, October 14th, for Professional Development Day where you will find sessions geared toward upgrading your efficiencies, your final products and ultimately – you. Don’t forget to wear your WLIA apparel on this day for your chance to win!
This day’s sessions provide vital insights into such topics as “Geospatial Strategy” from Anna Sokol, who you might have seen at the Esri UC, and “Github: An Open Source Platform for the Modern World” from Sakib Hasan, an up-and-coming professional in La Crosse County. In addition, we have a thoughtful session from Jami Dennis, who we are excited to have with us from Arizona, bringing her twenty-five years of experience to share. Her presentation, titled “Better by Design: Making Your Work Stand Out”, will suggest ways to visualize your efforts more effectively, getting them noticed and appreciated!
The day will conclude with an engaging panel titled “Equity Advocates Presents: GIS Careers Panel Discussion,” led by Andy King-Scribbins, Strategic Advisor with Esri and the MN GIS/LIS Corsortium Professional Development Committee Chair. The panel will include a variety of GIS professionals to discuss things like private and public career opportunities, advice to young professionals and students looking to get started in a GIS career, and general trends in the job market, both regionally and globally.
