This is how you…enjoy the Fall Virtual Meeting!

We’re getting down to the wire: Zoom practice sessions are happening left-and-right, and you’re (hopefully) clearing your project list to make room for next week’s WLIA Fall Virtual Meeting! Take a moment and check out these tips and cool events and figure them into your meeting experience!

Listed in the order that comes to this mustachioed author’s mind!

  1. Learn some Zoom tricks! Our favorite is the ability to mute yourself and then using the spacebar to unmute when you want to talk! That beauty filter seems strange though.
  2. Use your Zoom prowess to attend and contribute to any and all of our Special Interest Group meetings!
    • Monday, 3:30-5:00 p.m. – State Agency Geospatial Information Committee Meeting
    • Tuesday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. – Land Information Officers Network Meeting
    • Wednesday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. – Equity Advocates presents: GIS Careers Panel Discussion
    • Thursday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. – Municipal Users Group
  3. Make sure your work/virtual conference space is setup for you to enjoy the meeting! Get your web camera on, have a smile handy, and sneak some treats under the desk to keep you chipper and focused!
  4. Speaking of treats, don’t forget to join the Board of Directors on Thursday night for a Happy Hour! Rumor has it that one of the board members is going to give a demo on making a favorite happy hour beverage (watch WLIA social media this week for more details and DIY tips)!
  5. Give yourself some Slack! Not only does joining the WLIA Slack channel get you access to chat with your favorite WLIA colleagues, it also allows you to participate in fun interactive events and win prizes.
    • Monday, 1:00-2:00 p.m. – “Doodle While You Listen” Contest
    • Wednesday, 1:00-2:00 pm – “Wear Your WLIA Gear” Contest
    • All Week, Map Scavenger Hunt – Clues will only be released on Slack
  6. Donate $25 to the WLIA Foundation Scholarship Fund and get a free WLIA mask to use when you leave your conference space. We will not have a 50/50 raffle at this conference, so share your money here. Remember, “it’s for the kids,” and with masks…plenty more people!
  7. Last, but not least, don’t forget to register and get your Zoom link!

Stay well, and see you in a few days, everyone!
