Jason Poser

It is with a heavy heart that I share, Jason Poser, a fellow board member, has passed away after a short battle with cancer.  Jason, the Land Records Coordinator and designated Land Information Officer for Buffalo County, began his tenure there in 2014.  Word spread quickly about what Jason was able to accomplish in Buffalo County as he modernized their land records system.

Jason Poser

Jason was elected to the WLIA Board in 2019.  Last year as Spring Education Chair he oversaw our first ever Spring Virtual Meeting.  Jason is on our ballot for re-election to the WLIA Board of Directors for 2021-2023.

It is truly tragic that he is gone and he will be missed by many.  Our condolences go out to his family, especially his sister, Caitlin Hagar, GIS Analyst, with the City of Onalaska and his wife Greta Poser, Associate Professor, GIS Masters Program, at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

A full article about Jason, celebrating his accomplishments, as well as information pertaining to services, will be shared when available.

A shocking loss for us all. He will be sorely missed.

  5. I was speechless to learn of Jason’s passing. I agree with what others have written here about Jason. Not only was Jason a valued WLIA member, a customer that I trained but also I got to know Jason, his wife and sister throughout the last 5 years at several WLIA events. Jason would call me out of the blue and talk about the latest technology to solve or improve a workflow. I will miss his smile and laughter the most!!
Let me know if I can donate to a favorite charity of his or his family, even the local cancer clinic/foundation.

  6. I have no words. Yes he will be missed….rest in peace Jason.

  7. Ditto to all of the previous messages! Jason was a great guy and wonderful representative for our WI Land Information Community. Buffalo County.was very lucky to have him as their Land Information Coordinator. i only had occasional interactions with Jason over the years, he was always a joy to talk with and always gave generously of his time to answer the questions that I had. I am glad to have had him as a professional colleague and will miss seeing him at WLIA meetings. My sincere condolences to his family.

  8. The GIS community is tight and it’s painful to lose one of our own. I got to know Jason through Greta years ago and I’m saddened to hear of his passing. He was cheerful and energetic every time I interacted with him. A positive influence who will be surely missed. My condolences to Greta, and Jason’s family.
