Dr. D. David Moyer passes away

A great friend of the Wisconsin land records community, D. David Moyer passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was 84 years old.

David was an economist, researcher, and geographic information specialist for various federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the National Geodetic Survey in the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Bureau of the Census, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison. During his career he was able to travel across the globe helping states and foreign countries with their land record systems. During this time he also served in various roles, including President of URISA. He met and befriended many people during his years working.

  1. I believe Dr. Moyer was a past president of the WLIA (1997), he was a very knowledgeable and interesting person. I always enjoyed talking to him. D. David was always a familiar face at WLIA conferences.

  2. David Moyer was indeed President of WLIA in 1997 – 1998 and was a wonderful person and a great leader. His patience, wisdom and sense of humor were greatly appreciated as he continued to be involved in the association. He will be so missed.
