What’s So Special About Special Interest Groups?

For those of you not in the know, our conferences always include time for Special Interest Groups or SIGs. Each group is run a little differently. Some have formal agendas, some have loose topics, and some are simply an open forum to share questions, issues, and ideas. It’s a way to strengthen connections to people within a particular industry or to come together to move an issue forward. For our newer members, it’s a great way to meet people who are knowledgeable on a topic you might just be getting started in.

So far, we have the following SIGs lined up:

  • LiDAR/Elevation/Hydro
  • UAS
  • Tribal GIS
  • MUGG (Municipal GIS Users)
  • Developers/OS/Small Biz
  • NextGen 911
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
  • GeoEducators
  • LION (Land Information Officers Network)

Anyone with an interest in any of these things can show up to a SIG, no previous experience required. In the coming weeks, watch for information on times and locations as we prepare the final agenda. Head over to the Registration page to grab your spot at Wisconsin’s premier land information gathering. Hotel and other information can be found on the Annual Conference page.
