The American Association of Geographers (AAG) and Esri have teamed up to help bring GIS to the K-12 classroom. To that end they have created a GeoMentor program in which GIS professionals can go into the classroom and assist schools and teachers achieve success in integrating geospatial technologies and classroom teaching.
Information about the program can be found on the AAG GeoMentors Program page, including how to get started, training resources and educational resources.
Keep an eye on this WLIA page for updates on Wisconsin-centric resources. If you would like to be a GeoMentor we encourage you to add yourself to the AAG map and let us know. If you are a GeoMentor or have worked with someone in the classroom, or if you would like to help “Mentor” new GeoMentors, please let us know that as well.
