Input Needed: NG911 Grant Guidance

Posted By: Jennifer Borlick Industry,

The WLIA Technical Committee is looking for input on NG911 GIS Grant Guidance. The final document will provide recommendations for NG911 GIS funding that will ensure sustainable, equitable and accessible grant opportunities for all Wisconsin counties. The final recommendations will be used as talking point to guide the 911 Subcommittee and help modify the grant program that will let counties plan for future needs by expanding eligible uses, improving long-term financial support, and streamlining grant management. These talking points are intended to assist counties to plan for future needs while reducing the financial burdens they are experiencing with the NG911 program.

The Technical Committee has produced this draft guidance (pdf) and would like to receive input from those that are involved in NG911 implementation, funding decisions, or GIS management. Comments and suggestions should be sent to Andy Faust by March 14, 2025. There will also be an opportunity to discuss the grant guidance at the NG911 Special Interest Group that will be held during the 2025 WLIA Annual Conference at 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 27th. (While you are encouraged to register for and attend the conference, conference registration is not required to attend this SIG.)

Once the Technical Committee has received, reviewed and incorporated comments the committee will, through the NG911 Subcommittee, use the final product to make recommendations to the Office of Emergency Communications regarding how to use 911 GIS grant funding.
