WLIA NEEDS YOUR HELP! Legislative Update!
As you have heard from recent legislative updates at our conferences, our legislative committee has been hard at work partnering with the Wisconsin Realtors Association and Wisconsin Counties Association on a proposal to modify the Real Estate Transfer Fee and therefore increase Wisconsin Land Information Program funding.
This proposal is now drafted as LRB 2260/1 and is co-authored by Senator Rob Stafsholt and Representative Chanz Green. Currently, the bill is being circulated through the legislature asking for lawmakers to sign on as a co-sponsor.
Our ask to you, our members, is to reach out to your legislators and ask them to sign on as a co-sponsor to the bill. In addition to you reaching out as an individual/citizen, you may also request your administrator or executive to reach out on behalf of your organization
The deadline for co-sponsorship is Tuesday, April 15th, so please act soon, preferably in the next couple of days. Please click on the document below, then download and share the bill with the request to your legislators. A template for your requests is at the end of this post if you wish to use it.
Obtaining additional co-sponsors is critical to gaining momentum and support for this legislation, so please advocate for your profession and industry by sending a request to your state senator and representative, who can each be found here.
Thank you for your support,
Kim Christman, WLIA President
