WLIA & DPI are the New Hosts for Wisconsin's ArcGIS Online Student Map Competition

Posted By: Caitlin Hagar-Kuhn Community,

It's that time of year again to show off the innovative web mapping skills of our up and coming GIS students! ESRI wants to showcase student GIS projects relevant to our homestates. The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee has historically hosted this competition for Wisconsin, but has recently passed the torch to the WLIA in partnership with DPI. We'd like to thank Donna Genzmer and her UWM team for their many years of service for this inimitable student opportunity.

Students can register as individuals or in pairs. Schools or clubs can enter as a group. Registrants will enter in one of two divisions: middle school (grades 4 though 8) or high school (grades 9 though 12). A panel of GIS professionals and educators will judge the entries and the top 5 will be awarded Amazon gift certificates and entered into ESRI's National Competition. There, they will compete via their division.

Registration is already open! Wisconsin winners will be announced Wednesday, May 18th and ESRI National winners will be announced Tuesday, May 31st.

Visit the Wisconsin ArcGIS Online Student Map Competition Hub for more details or email DPI.GIS@dpi.wi.gov.

Happy Mapping!
