Special Interest Groups (SIG) at the WLIA Annual
The WLIA Annual Conference will host multiple Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings. Read below for more information.
Thursday February 26th @ 3:30 to 4:15pm
Wisconsin’s Real Property Lister Association Tundra C/D Room
The Wisconsin Real Property Listers Association (WRPLA) is a statewide association comprised of county and municipal real property lister offices/departments.
The RPL maintains land records focusing on the ownership records of real estate and is a “Land Information Librarian/Custodian” of the information used to create the assessment rolls that underlie the entire taxation process. To put it more simply, the RPL maintains parcel information, using land records. Attend this SIG to find out more and have some good communication with the RPLs.
NextGen 911 SIG Tundra E/F Room
The NG911 SIG is a forum to get together with others to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities. At this year's NG911 SIG, we will focus our discussion on ALI to Road Centerline layer comparisons, and how to achieve your highest possible comparison match rate, to prepare your data for end state NG911 data structures. We will also discuss how the OEC can help you tackle this critical task, and how ALI comparison match rate might play a part in future NG911 GIS grant cycles. This meeting is an open forum to get feedback and share thoughts and strategies. We are also looking for future discussion items for the NG911 SIG and suggestions for future WLIA meetings.
Municipal and Utilities Group (MUG) Sandstone 8/9 Room
MUG is looking forward to seeing you at the WLIA Annual Conference. We hope to continue the dialogue about challenges and successes you have had in the Municipal government and Utility sectors throughout the year. We also will be discussing our plan for our free fall workshop, share our experiences and best practices on a variety of topics, and networking.
Thursday February 26th @ 4:15 to 5:00pm
LiDAR & Hydro Tundra A/B Room
The LiDAR and Hydro Special Interest Group has been meeting at WLIA for 10 years. We provide an open forum for both new and experienced users to discuss data uses, accuracy, technology changes, software, data extraction, culvert mapping, water studies, challenges with LiDAR, and more. Basic topics of discussion include:
- LiDAR in Wisconsin
- Hydro mapping in Wisconsin
- Grants Available
- Software
- Improving Industry Standards and Specifications
- UAS LiDAR vs Photogrammetry
- Industry Trends
While we plan to hit a few key topics, this an open discussion so bring your questions, ideas, use cases, or just come to learn.
Developers SIG (Python) Glacier C/D Room
Automation, Design, Process deployment, we are talking Python! Come meet other aspiring coders/developers, all skill levels welcome. With so many ways of doing things and with AI opening the door a little more for folks, this is an open forum for discussion. Bring your questions or a process you’re working on and we can all brainstorm together.
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Glacier A/B Room
The UAS SIG is an informal peer-led discussion focusing on sharing knowledge, experience and solving UAS-related issues that government and industry encounter when adopting this rapidly evolving technology. This is an opportunity to discuss recent developments in UAS including advancements in technology and, of course, the impact of the NDAA ban on DJI and other non-US drones. Come join the conversation or simply come to learn.
