Legislative Update: Your Assistance is Appreciated!

Posted By: Jennifer Borlick Legislative,

As you have heard from recent legislative updates at our conferences, our legislative committee has been hard at work putting forth a proposal to increase the document recording fee and therefore increase Wisconsin Land Information Program funding as well as fees retained by the county Land Information Office.

This proposal is now drafted as LRB 5300/LRB 5447 and is co-authored by Senator Ballweg and Representative Novak. Today the bill is being circulated through the legislature asking for lawmakers to sign on as a co-sponsor.

Our ask to you, our members, is to reach out to your legislators and ask them to sign on as a co-sponsor to the bill. The deadline for co-sponsorship is this Friday the 22nd, so please act soon. Please click on the two documents below, then download and share them with the request to your legislators.  A template for your requests is at the end of this post if you wish to use it.

Obtaining additional co-sponsors is critical to gaining momentum and support for this legislation, so please advocate for your profession and industry by sending a request to your state senator and representative, who can each be found here.

Thank you for your support,

Jennifer Borlick, WLIA President
