Map Contest Judges Needed for the 2023 Annual

Posted By: Mike Seidel Annual Conference,

Do you have an overwhelming desire to don a powdered wig and swing a tiny hammer? If you do (which would be a little weird, but aren’t we all?), you might be just the person we are looking for. While we can’t provide the attire or the gavel, we do have an opportunity for you to put on your proverbial judge’s hat (and have some fun while doing it).

Consider this your invitation to give back to the WLIA community by joining in the judging of the Map Contest at the 2023 WLIA Annual Conference. Put your cartographic knowledge to use and take a deep dive into some of the amazing maps on display. You will only be asked to judge one category (two at most) and devote around 30 minutes of your time starting at 5pm on Thursday, February 23. If you can’t make that time but still want to take part, you can help with the pre-conference judging of the Interactive and Story Map categories.  Judging criteria will be provided for all categories, so anyone can do it!

If you are interested in helping, please reach out to any or all of the Map Contest Committee co-chairs listed below and throw your wig in the ring! And hey, if you have your own gavel you want to bring for some reason we won’t judge you…
