Overview of a Successful ArcGIS Student Map Competition in 2022

Posted By: Carmen Novak Community,

The 2022 Wisconsin ArcGIS Student Map Competition is now complete! View the 2022 AGO WI Competition StoryMap that highlights the state winners and shows some of the excellent projects that were submitted.

Participating students from Wisconsin schools, worked individually or in pairs, selected a Wisconsin topic to research. Following competition guidelines and requirements, students completed their research and created an ArcGIS StoryMap detailing research findings and results. A combination of GIS professionals and educators judged all entries submitted to the state competition. The top five winners in each division will be awarded a $100 Amazon e-gift certificate (if submitted by a team of two students, each will receive a $50 Amazon e-gift certificate). The top five entries in each division were submitted to Esri's national competition. The first place winners in each division compete for the national title.

This is the first year that the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) has hosted the Wisconsin competition. We had two middle schools participate - Bay View Middle School and Oak Creek East Middle School - and we were impressed by the range of topics as well as the entries themselves!
