The 2026 Map Contest Emerges!

Posted By: Mike Seidel Annual Conference,

The ever-popular WLIA Annual Conference Map Contest is back and better than ever in 2026!

As the snow starts to fall and nature settles in for a long winter nap, Map Contest season is officially upon us. Our contest provides the mapping community with an opportunity to break out their most beautiful blooms. From bucolic base maps to inventive interactive apps, your work is what makes this competition come alive.

So, forage those archives for a forgotten fantasy map, or breathe life into a timeless thematic map. All entries will grow our online Map Gallery with hard copies being further nurtured at the Annual Conference February 25-27, 2026, at the Glacier Canyon Lodge in Wisconsin Dells!

For more information, check out all the Map Contest page and enter your map today!

Questions regarding the Map Contest can be directed to the co-chairs: Mike Seidel -or- Grace White

Note: This year we are working on expanding the Youth category of the Map Contest to include interactive maps and apps. We are in the process of updating the necessary rules and release forms, but we’re not quite there yet…so have your Junior Cartographer hold tight. We’ll make a formal announcement once we’re ready to accept their entries!
